MV/LV substation beneath a residential building
3.4 µT → 0.6 µT
01 · Challenge
A new transformer station in the basement of a residential development exceeded the ORNI installation limit value of 1 µT in the apartments above.
02 · Simulation
A full 3D model of the transformer, LV distribution and cable routing identified the busbar connection — not the transformer — as the dominant source.
03 · Solution
A layered electrical-steel and aluminium ceiling shield combined with a re-routed, transposed busbar arrangement.
04 · Execution
Prefabricated panels installed in four working days without interrupting the construction programme.
05 · Result
Verification measurements confirmed 0.6 µT in all rooms of sensitive use, 40% below the required limit.
